Hello, world.
So I'm sitting here on the dawn of a new summer... the dawn of a new life, even.
I feel rejuvenated. Reborn, even. I don't even look the same way that I looked in October. Something in my face has matured, and it's really bizarre to me. Bizarre, but welcome at the same time.
I feel like I'm on the advent of something good, of something worthwhile. Free time is so liberating. The constraints of college have worn away finally - the semester really is over, and I don't have any work to do at all. It's mind-boggling, all the things that I can do with my free time.
Read. Yes, read. Damn. I can't remember the last book I read for MYSELF. I think it was actually Black Swan Green, all the way back last summer. Let me tell you something. Being an English major really saps your time to read remotely anything interesting for yourself. I've been a slave to the Harlem Renaissance, the Literature of Social Change, to Jonathan Swift, for the past few months. It's absolutely delicious feeling to be able to open a book and know that I'm opening it for my sake, and not for the sake of another class.
I chose Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro to shart off the summer, and I have to say, it's better than I ever thought it was going to be. I'm tearing through it fairly quickly, and I couldn't be any happier. It feels GOOD just to sit down and turn pages on my own volition!
I haven't been keeping up with any TV shows or movies that I've wanted to see, and it's been bugging the heck out of me. Mmm. Boo. This summer, I'll catch up on all the stuff that I've been wanting to see. Definitely. I already saw the next episode of The Tudors, which was so fabulously awesome that I can't wait to see the fourth. The Office has become not-so-guilty pleasure, and I love sitting up late-night, watching Curb with Jon on the phone. You shoe-whore.
Video games... I've fallen so far behind. It'll take a life-time and then some to get through every game that ... I SHALL CONTINUE THIS LATER!
