If You Want Me to Stay...

Yes, that's a ghetto song as the title. Appropriate, because this weekend was none other than...the Superdance!

Friday was decoration day! I was over at Faggrell for around 3 hours helping put up signs, and cut the decorations out and stuff. The crowning achievement was definitely the vending machine. Sti and I gave it a grass skirt and made coconut boobs for it. It was basically the talk of the rest of the night. After that, Joe, me, Sti, and Andrew went over to the pizzaria to go get some food-stuffs. It was a pretty fun night, one basically ruled by setting up for the darned dance...

Saturday was the actual dance. As a committee member, I was due there at 12 PM, and at 12 PM I was there. As soon as I got there I was shoved into ticket booth, and worked there around an hour or so. Not bad, because Sti was there. And oh, did I forget to mention that the Juniors were sentenced to wear this shade of puke purple? There's absolutely no way you can look good in something that looks like you just dunked yourself in prune juice.

Anyway, after getting out of ticketbooth, Joe, Sti, Andrew, Roe, Lenny and I played frisbee and basically hung out. We also watched Bluish play a practice set. They're an awesome band, and you should all go to their website here. Nothing basically happened after that until around 6:30-7:00. That's when the hoards began to arrive.

As my duty, I went around begging for money. Joe and I had a friendly competition going on, to see who could sell the most pins and/or collect the most money. I, of course, because of my gender, was winning. There were more boys at the Superdance anyway, and I made my earnings pretty well. Joe's soph friend, John, kept on saying, "You're going down!" But when I begged him for money, he gave it to me. Mutiny in the ranks, my friends!

After going around an hour with the cans and filling four of them to the brim, Joe and I somehow got sentenced to coat check. What a nightmare. An exec told us that we'd be in there for 15 minutes, max. Instead we were in there for an hour and a half, during the busiest time of the night. It was an absolute hell - I distinctly remember Sti calling it the Tiki Hut of Hell. There were hangers and tickets all over the place, impatient people outside the hut, and me barking orders. Joe and I were stressed beyond belief, and there were like 30 people on the line.

We FINALLY got out and got to relax and grab a bite to eat. It was Jenn's first dance, so she was living it up and scoping the boys... We went up to the Caf to hang out, where Sti tried a back walkover, and the boys basically beat each other up. And then Fo Sheezy tried to rip the wrestling mats, and Andrew somehow ended up in the padded room...makes me wonder, does he belong there? :-P (j/k)

After a bit the first band preformed. I don't even recall their name, but they were absolutely awful. Dave Colton was the makeshift bass player, and he didn't know any of the songs, and they just sounded overall extremely horrible. Like really horrible. Like the worst band I've ever heard. They were off the stage after two songs. And the really funny thing was that I knew one of the band members. Sti pointed him out to me as this kid I used to go to school with. Freaky!

After that, Bluish came on and played their set. They're a pretty cool band, and their songs get stuck in my head fairly easily. I don't usually like girl vocals, but with the mixture of the flute and everything, it's pretty cool. Not to mention that Faggrell's Italian teacher is the lead singer. How cool is that, having a teacher that's the lead singer of a rock band? Jeez, I can only picture my Italian teacher up there. "Did the bell ring, no?"

After that came a string of absolutely awful performances supplied by KTU. They happen to get the most washed up, pathetic performers that were from the early 90s and only had 1 hit. First there was Hope, with the half-naked booty-shakers in the background. Then the other girl, and then Rena. Rena was moderately cool, as I actually recognized her song "Find Another Woman." Back in dance, they went to competition with it and won the most awards with it.

Then it was up to the Cafeteria, to grab something to eat once again. This was probably the most hysterical part of the night. Of course, there was the posable hula girl on the wall, who ended up in the most lewd of positions. I was with Roe, Jenn, Joe, Matt, John, Carmine, and Dan Oliver (who actually remembers my name). The topics ranged from how Joe and I met to Joe's pubic hair. Very interesting stuff. To say the least, we were laughing so hard it was difficult to eat. I really love hanging out with guys. They're just so different, so much cooler sometimes than girls. And they can make anyone laugh.

Joe and I had sworn that we wouldn't end up back in coatcheck, but somehow we did! And it was closing time, and every freakin' person has a Northface jacket! Or a Coach bag, or something. All the numbers were screwed up, and some people even had the wrong tickets. It was me, Joe, Sti, Andrew, Fo Sheezy, Ash, Lenny, and the Savoleos, and all of us could barely handle the load of people. At this time it was around 11, and we were in there for about an hour and a half to two hours. We were dancing each time we actually found a jacket: that's how stressful the whole thing was. After there was only one bubble jacket left, we rejoiced. Aren't we sad?

Earlier Joe and I had bought a body length of raffle tickets, and of course, we didn't win anything. By then It was 1 AM, and we had raised a total of 105,000 dollars to MDA! It was so awesome. We actually left Faggrell around 1:30 AM, and I promptly fell asleep after the long day.

This had been my longest entry ever! Hope you enjoyed reading my escapades: it took me long enough to type it out!
